Comprehensive Assessment Methodology Qualifies for Approval by Car Makers

Munich (Germany) April 2, 2013 – RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS announces the acquisition of the MOST® business unit of Relnetyx AG, effective April 1, 2013. With this acquisition, the experts in automotive data communication significantly complete their sphere of competence across several test services and network technologies. "With the addition of Relnetyx’s MOST field of activity we majorly broaden the service offering for car makers and suppliers," explained Wolfgang Malek, General Manager and Co-Founder of RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS. "With this acquisition, world-wide, we have become the only provider for MOST compliance tests across all test scopes and all speed grades of MOST." RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS is in a position to specify, test and proof for robustness the complex infotainment and driver assistance systems for the car and their connectivity to the outside world, for example Connected Drive across all layers. Electronic and electromechanical devices and modules are evaluated with respect to their reliability and functionality. Additionally, the acquisition broadens the knowledge base of the offered engineering and 'Test House as a Service' portfolio in the field of the lower ISO/OSI model.

Technology Assessment Secures Quality, Reliability and Functionality

"With the increasing complexity of telematics systems, the challenge grows to guarantee the required robustness of devices and systems," added Wolfgang Malek. "To manage this, we offer an integral approach for evaluating the warranted features. This is particularly true for key hardware components like Physical Layer devices." The components for optical data transmission, for example MOST, have to be observed with respect to optical and mechanical features in the rough car environment in addition to pure electrical parameters. On top of that the composite and connectivity technology, and as such the manufacturing process, is considerably more demanding than for standard semiconductor packages. For these key components, RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS provides a comprehensive evaluation methodology which also covers the characterization of the device functionality in the on-site ISO17025 accredited test laboratory and the evaluation of the design and manufacturing process.

Robustness and Compliance for Current and Future Data Communication

RUETZ SYSTEM SOLUTIONS develops quality standards and validation processes based on established industry standards and up-to-date techniques such as robustness validation. The design, qualification and characterization processes are tested and the qualification data analyzed and statistically evaluated. Amongst others in the field of qualification are the MOST Full Physical Layer Compliance as well as tests according to the "Automotive Application Recommendation for optical MOST Components" of the MOST Cooperation. The assessment of the manufacturing process, including test strategy, is executed on-site by the test specialists. The electronic components are evaluated through measurement. To achieve transparency and reproducibility of the electronic products, the test house deploys its well-proven benchmark methodology. In addition to actual data communication, the evaluation of future technologies is also part of the service offer.
